It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive nature activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
